  I grew up in this church. My first recitation was here when I was 4. This began my life of building confidence in my abilities, an appreciation of the gifts God gave me, and how I was to use them. I was NOT to be embarrassed by them. I had a talent as a pianist and was asked to play for the younger kids when they sang their opening songs. This was my first experience playing for others consistently. I then started playing at school as well as putting on plays. My experience at Alquina United Methodist Church gave me the confidence to do those things elsewhere. I came to realize those were truly gifts I had and was meant to use them like any other gift. I later became a family physician because I heard God speak to me clearly about this when I was nearly 25. I knew not to doubt His voice. In times of troubles or joy, God and His Holy Spirit are always there to give me guidance. My family farm is still 1 mile east of there even though I live 50 miles north in Muncie and spend a lot of time in Orlando with grandchildren. Wherever you start your journey with the Lord, your heart will always stay.
